*** BioForum – provides spot for presentation of biotechnology-related R&D projects and stimulates development of knowledge-based innovative bioeconomy

The number of projects presented on BioForum has grown already – above 5 times from BioForum 2006 to BioForum 2007. Comparable amount of around 50 projects was also shown on BioForum 2008.


*** Most relevant biotechnology forum in Central Europe


BioForum is placed next to BioConvention (United States) and BIOTECHNICA (Hannover, Germany) in the aspect of its international and biobusiness character, as well as its uniqueness in the Central Europe region.


*** In the result of BioForum research teams initiated co-operation with business partners.


According to our knowledge, several research groups have found partners for commercialization of their projects. The projects were related to such subjects as treatment of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases with stem cells, new drug transporters, evaluation of immunomodulation properties of chemicals, production of monoclonal antibodies, application of siRNA technology for cancer treatment, peptide-based conservants.


*** BioForum stimulates formation of new biotech initiatives in Central Europe


BioForum has contributed to a rise of new biotech companies in the region, such as Mabion Llc, Proteon Pharmaceuticals Llc, Celther Llc.

In December 2007 ‘Microincubator of biotech companies’ has origined in Lodz, Poland, on the basis of interaction between Lodz town council and Bio-Tech Consulting, initiated on BioForum.


*** Respresentatives of Western European and American biobusiness got interested in Central European R&D potential via BioForum


In consequence, Swiss biotech company Venture Valuation (www.venturevaluation.com) intends starting its activity in Poland. BioForum hosted representatives from The Ohio State University, European Union and other biotech-related companies.
