Letter from the chairman of the organizing committee of
Bio-Forum II |
Biotechnology - a challenge for the Polish economy
In the years 1992 - 1999 we observed a fast
economic growth in Poland. To keep the rate of the economic
transformation in a new millennium, new and promising directions of development, such as
biotechnology, need to be created.
The key role in the development of a new
technology is played by the close co-operation between science
and business communities. Bio-Forum is an annual meeting organized
by Bio-Tech Consulting company. Its aim is to get together the
representatives of science and business working in the field
of biotechnology. It is one of the most important steps to
start new thinking era in both groups of the potential
creators of biotechnology development in Poland.
Biotechnology becomes an important part of
the global HiTech. The principal endeavor for the organizers
of Bio-Forum is to introduce some potential partners for the
international enterprises.
The results of the second edition of
Bio-Forum events is presented in a book: "Bio-Forum II.
Polish Biobusiness as a Partner of International
Enterprises".
Poland, due to its geographical location,
could play a very important role in a business co-operation in
the field of biotechnology and become the future place of
meetings for an exchange of ideas and KNOW-HOW between Western
and Eastern countries. Bio-Forum is a good example for such
activities.
An important part of Bio-Forum II
conference was the session "Biotechnology in the
East" presenting biotechnology research in Ukraine.
Ukrainian scientists disclosed not only their basic research,
but also technology available for practical applications.
We hope, that in future meetings of
Bio-Forum the representation of biotechnology community, both
from the East and the West, will systematically grow and may
result in new opportunities for biotechnology development in
global economy.
