Message from Chairman of Organizing Committee of the 2nd
National Congress on Biotechnology,
Prof. Stanisław Bielecki
The 2nd National Congress On Biotechnology is being organized by the Committee of Biotechnology at the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences and by the scientific community of Łódź, including Technical University of Łódź, University of Łódź, Medical University in Łódź, and Centre of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies of Polish Academy of Sciences. The Congress will take place on June 23-27, 2003, at the campus of the University of Łódź.
The Congress will gather the members of academic community and the representatives of R&D as well as industrial sector engaged in the development of biotechnology in Poland. The participants will present the results of both basic and applied biotechnological research in such fields as agriculture and food production, pharmacy and health care, bioremediation and environmental protection. The organizers expect that the Congres will constitute a platform for integration of representatives of all sectors involved in the development of biotechnology in Poland and establishing of direct scientific contacts for realization of collaborative research projects, especially in view of near integration of Poland with European Union.
The Congress will proceed in four parallel PROBLEM SECTIONS, corresponding to main areas of biotechnology developed in Poland (Health care, Environmental protection, Agriculture, Food production). A series of PLENARY LECTURES will be given for all participants by invited speakers. In addition, several MICROSYMPOSIA will be organized within the frame of the Congress, including: Bioethics, Teaching of Biotechnology in Poland, Biotechnology for the Society, Biotechnology Patents in Poland, World of Biotechnology – Biotechnology in the World, Bio-business (BioForum IV), Forum of Young Biotechnologists.
